About Weis Library
Our Purpose:
“Making disciples who make disciples.”
Our Mission:
Our mission is to help all people become passionate, devoted followers of Jesus Christ who think and act like Him a little more each day.
A disciple is:
- A person who desires to learn to think and act like Jesus.
- A person who is willing to follow Jesus by doing what He did in His earthly ministry. What Jesus did by the Sea of Galilee is the same thing we should be doing by our own “Sea of Galilee” which is our neighborhood or where we work or spend much of our time.
- A person who is trying faithfully to reproduce herself or himself.

We are part of the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference. Erie-Meadville District.History of our church
Founded by missionary John Seybert in 1833, the first congregation was composed of German speaking members of the Evangelical Association. The white church building was known as the Union School (now Morey Chapel). In 1926, the name was changed to Weis Library Evangelical Church.
The original building was expanded in 1946 to include a basement and our present educational wing. The sanctuary in which we worship today was constructed in 1969, just one year after the Evangelical Brethren and Methodist Episcopal Churches merged to form the United Methodist Church.
In 1997 and 1998 a major renovation project was undertaken which enhanced the building, parking lot and parsonage which is located on Millfair Rd. The house to the west side of the church, facing Heidler Road, was purchased in 2000. In 2004 the Christ Center was constructed.
